Synopsis
In the near future, cultural exchange between North and South Korea resumes at last.
A young South Korean woman, Sohee, crosses the border to complete her teaching practicum at a North Korean middle school
—a world whose rhythms and rules she cannot begin to read.
Slowly, with the quiet guidance of Songyi, a teacher at the school, the walls come down.
The students warm to her. Her colleagues follow.
For the first time, the North feels less like foreign ground and more like a place she might belong.
Then, wanting to prove herself, Sohee brings an idea to the principal—never imagining it will circle back to her like a boomerang.
When a portrait of the Supreme Leader vanishes from the school,
the ideological supervisor is certain of one thing: the girl from the South is at the center of it.
One by one, teachers and students are called in for questioning.
Every arrow of suspicion turns toward Sohee.
And Songyi—the one person she believed was her friend—turns away.
Can she finish what she came to do?
And can she make it home?
